In this week's module, we learned to classify areas on the map using unsupervised and supervised classification techniques with ERDAS Imagine. Supervised classification was used to create the attached map. In this exercise, I created my own layer with Areas of Interest (AOI’s) as signature areas. These signature areas helped me quickly assign like pixel colors as different areas in the image, as opposed to having to manually select each pixel (unsupervised). The attached map also shows an inset distance map, this map identifies where wrong classifications are occurring in the image.
