Communicating in GIS Module 2: Coordinate Systems

For this week's lab, we took an in-depth look at coordinate systems and how to determine the best coordinate system for the area of interest being mapped. I chose Nebraska as my area of interest, and I used the State Plane coordinate system for this area. The entire state of Nebraska fits into a single State Plane (NAD 1983 (2011) State Plane Nebraska FIPS 2600 (US Feet)). The state has 3 UTM zones, so a UTM zone is not the best option for this area if I am creating a map of the entire state.
