Module 4 - Spatial Enhancement

In this week’s module, we learned how to enhance image filters in ERDAS Imagine & ArcGIS Pro. We used histograms, breakpoints, color band combinations, and indices. I used each of these enhancement tools to create the three maps attached.

In the assignment, we were given a set of clues to look for in the image and histogram based on the image brightness in each layer of the image. There were 6 layers in the image used. I used a greyscale of each layer to examine the color, contrast, and brightness to help identify key features. I also checked the histogram for spikes and used the color spikes to identify if the feature I was searching for was dark or light, large or small.

Once I identified each feature, I applied an RGB (red, green, blue) color composite combination to enhance the feature visibility in each map.
